'Satan'? What Aaron Rodgers Really Thinks of Bill Belichick: Patriots Trade Rumor
The rumor that Aaron Rodgers basically vetoed a trade from the Green Bay Packers to the New England Patriots, delivered in a package that creates the impression that the four-time MVP shouldn't want to "play for Satan,'' is turning out to be something less than a "rumor.''
"Gossip''? Nope. Less than that. A figment of a hateful imagination on the part of a New York media member? Yes, maybe that.
According to FS1's Craig Carton, Rodgers and his people found a way for him to land with the New York Jets while also saying, “No, we ain’t playing for New England!”?
But then Carton injected his own bias into the "report,'' which to us adds to its lack of credibility. Said the host: “Those snakes in the grass in New England can never be trusted. I want to thank my man Aaron Rodgers for recognizing you don’t go play for Satan.”
Among the many problems with Carton's angle? That is not at all a reflection of what we know of Rodgers' thoughts of Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
Last fall, as the then-Packers star was prepping to play the Patriots, Rodgers said that Belichick is a “living legend” and the “greatest coach ever.”
Wouldn't it be odd that Rodgers would so passionately and forcefully decline the chance to work with the “greatest coach ever''?
Additionally, Pat McAfee - who has a direct line to Rodgers - is reporting that via a source (with a playful hint that Rodgers is the source) tells "us that Aaron Rodgers has massive respect for Bill Belichick.''
