Robert Kraft Admits New England Patriots' Jakobi Meyers Mistake?

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft appears to regret letting Jakobi Meyers leave for Las Vegas with relatively little resistance.

As reactions around "The Dynasty" continue to pour in, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been forced to confront some of his mistakes from the past. A trip to "The Shop" forced him to confront a far more recent error.

Kraft swallowed humble pie while appearing on the talk series produced by Maverick Carter, LeBron James, and Paul Rivera as part of a star-studded lineup for the return of the web talk series. The Patriots owner was flanked by Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams, actress Tiffany Haddish, and entrepreneur Michael Rubin as they discussed wide-ranging topics such as black head coaches in the NFL, starting a business, dealing with criticism, and forming a strong inner circle.

Adams, fresh off his second season in Sin City, remarked that he had "learned so much" from new teammate Jakobi Meyers, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Patriots. The testimony apparently had Kraft feeling nostalgic ... and regretful.

"We shouldn’t have let him go," Kraft sorrowfully declared, drawing laughter from the rest of the panel.

Meyers rose from the ranks of undrafted free agency to become one of the Patriots most consistent offensive threats in the post-Tom Brady era. Between 2020 and 2022, Meyers led the Patriots with 2,399 yards on 209 receptions. Despite Meyers expressing interest in returning, he opted to sign a three-year, $33 million deal with the Raiders instead, a decision the Patriots countered by adding JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The 807 yards that Meyers earned this season would've led the Patriots, who were paced by 531 from rookie Demario Douglas. Smith-Schuster never found any sort of rhythm in his Foxborough debut, earning only 260 yards on 47 targets (29 receptions).

New England will be spared a meeting with Meyers this season, but the veteran was more than happy to remind the Patriots of what they walked out on during an October showdown in Las Vegas: as part of a five-reception day, Meyers scored the first touchdown of a 21-17 Raiders victory, one that came from the arm of fellow former Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo.
