LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders will play within the safe confines of Allegiant Stadium for the first time in the 2024 campaign, against the Carolina Panthers. 

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus one. They are plus three if they get four turnovers and give up only one. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. On average, teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

The Raiders are riding high after a momentous upset victory against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, 26-23. The Silver and Black defense was dominant against one of the best offenses in the NFL, from top to bottom. 

Offensively, the Raiders are looking to establish the run better than they have through the first two games of the season. Running backs Zamir White and Alex Mattison will get plenty of looks against the Panthers. 

The Panthers are among the teams struggling the most this season, but the Raiders are approaching them as any opponent. The Panthers benched second-year first-round quarterback Bryce Young for veteran Andy Dalton.

PENALTY: Neutral zone infraction against the Raiders.

PENALTY: Too many man against the Raiders.

SCORING UPDATE NO. 2: Raiders' Alexander Mattison rushes for a 2-yard touchdown. Extra point attempt is GOOD. Score tied, 7-7.

SACK: Raiders' Robert Spillane sacks Panthers' Andy Dalton.

SCORING UPDATE NO. 3: Andy Dalton connects with Diontae Johnson for a 5-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt is GOOD. Panthers lead, 14-7.

TURNOVER ON DOWNS: Raiders' Gardner Minshew fails to connect with tight end Brock Bowers on fourth-and-4. Panthers take over on their own 39.

SACK: Raiders Charles Snowden sacks Andy Dalton.

TIMEOUT: Raiders use their first timeout of the half.

Gardner Minshew was accurate in the first half and made a big throw to wide receiver Tre Tucker to set up the Raiders’ only score. He made a key play with his legs before Alexander Mattison punched it in for the score. Tre Tucker leads the Raiders in receiving with 60 yards on two receptions.

The Raiders defense has struggled against what was an anemic (to say the least) Panthers offense. Andy Dalton has rejuvenated the Panthers, he went 15 of 22 for 212 yards and three touchdowns. The Panthers have 57 rushing yards, led by Chuba Hubbard.

The Panthers had success running the football and often set themselves up for manageable second and third downs.
