Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Live Game Thread

The Las Vegas Raiders (o-0) open the 2022 NFL season today at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Chargers and we offer this live game thread.

The Las Vegas Raiders open the 2022 NFL season today by taking on their rival the Los Angeles Rams.

With multiple additions in the offseason, the Raiders are ready to prove last season's playoff appearance was only the beginning.

Remember the rule of five. If the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle, the game is over. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, that means they are plus one. If they then get four turnovers and give up only one, that means they are plus three. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. Teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games on average.

HALFTIME:

It's hard to imagine the first half going much worse for the Las Vegas Raiders against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It looked promising on the Raiders first drive of the game, where quarterback Derek Carr hooked up with wide receiver Davante Adams for multiple big plays.

It lead to a field goal and tying the game, but ever since that first drive, the Raiders have only been able to muster 22-yards of offense.

The Raiders haven't been able to establish a running game whatsoever, having only 14 rushing yards in the game.

Other than Adams, the Raiders other playmakers failed to show up, with one catch combined between tight end Darren Waller and receiver Hunter Renfrow.

Carr hasn't had his best day, being sacked three times and throwing an interception that lead to the Chargers scoring before the end of the first half.

On the other side, the Chargers offense has been dominant thanks to the efforts of QB Justin Herbert.

In the first half, Herbert completed 85 percent of his passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 10.2 yards per attempt.

The Raiders defense has to find a way to disrupt Herbert in the second half to have a chance.

SCORING UPDATE #6: Chargers Justin Herbert pass to Gerald Everett for a 18-yard touchdown. PAT is Good. Chargers lead 24-10 with 6:42 left to go in the third quarter.

SCORING UPDATE #7: 55-yard field goal attempt by Raiders placekicker Daniel Carlson is Good. Chargers lead 24-13 with 1:03 left to go in the third quarter.

END OF THE THRID QUARTER: Chargers lead 24-13, and will have the ball, 3rd and five, at their own 30-yard line.

START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER:

TURNOVER: Raiders Derek Carr intercepted by Chargers Asante Samuel Jr. Chargers will have the ball their own two-yard line.

TURNOVER: Raiders Derek Carr intercepted by Chargers Bryce Callahan. Chargers take over at the Raiders 49-yard line with 11:00 left to go in the game.

SCORING UPDATE #8: Raiders Derek Carr passes for a three-yard touchdown to Davante Adams. Two-point conversion attempt is no good. Chargers lead 24-19 with 4:32 left to go in the game.

TWO-MINUTE WARNING: Chargers lead 24-19. Raiders will have the ball, 4th and 8, on their own 35-yard line.

FINAL: Chargers win, 24-19. Raiders fall to 0-1.
