DENVER, Colo.--After over seven months, the long wandering in the desert of no National Football League for the Las Vegas Raiders is finally over.

The Silver and Black have invaded Empower Field at Mile High to kick off the 2023 National Football League regular season against their AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are led by new Coach Sean Payton and a familiar face remaining at QB in Russell Wilson.

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels returns to Denver, where he used to coach, with a new quarterback and an overhauled roster ready to show the world that one of the most impressive offseasons will now be demonstrated by continuing that trend into the regular season.

Additionally, this season, we are excited to invite you to comment on the game in real-time, as we have now added a comment section that we will be checking on throughout the game.

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Raiders win that key statistical battle. It concerns sacks and turnovers for those who don't remember it. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus one. They are plus three if they get four turnovers and give up only one. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. On average, teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

--

For it being the first half of football for this modified Raiders team, the first two quarters of this Week 1 game weren't terrible for Las Vegas. But it was also a very far-from-pretty half.

The Raiders' offense has played well with its opportunities so far, having come away with a touchdown and field goal on two of its three drives.

Defensively, however, the secondary has performed rather poorly.

Las Vegas allowed 125 yards and two touchdowns in the air, as well as eight passing first downs.

The Silver and Black did began to create pressure in the backfield late in the half. For the Raiders to come out of this game with a win, they will need to continue that pressure, and the secondary will need to clean up its coverage.

START OF THE THIRD QUARTER:

PENALTY: Raiders' linebacker Robert Spillane causes a fumble, linebacker Divine Deablo recovers, but cornerback Marcus Peters is called for illegal contact. Automatic first down for Denver.

BRONCOS TAKE FIRST TIMEOUT OF THE HALF

MISSED FIELD GOAL: Broncos' placekicker Wil Lutz's 55-yard field goal attempt is no good.

PENALTY: False start against Raiders right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor.

PENALTY: Pass interference against Denver. Raiders move up to the Broncos' four-yard line.

PENALTY: Pass interference against Broncos, one-yard gain.

PENALTY: Illegal formation on Raiders.

TURNOVER: Garoppolo is intercepted in the end zone.

END OF THE THIRD QUARTER:

START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER:

SCORING UPDATE NO. 5: Lutz's 24-yard field goal is good, Denver's lead stretches to 16-10.

SCORING UPDATE NO. 6: Meyers with his second touchdown of the day. Extra point is good, Raiders retake the lead, 17-16. 6:34 to go.

BRONCOS USE SECOND TIMEOUT

INJURY: Meyers is down on the field after completing a six-yard pass. Flag on the play.

TWO MINUTE WARNING
