Raiders vs. Rams Live Game Updates, Analysis
LOS ANGELES, Calif.--The 2023 NFL preseason games continue today as the Las Vegas Raiders are in California to take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle. It has to do with sacks and turnovers, for those who don't remember it. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus one. They are plus three if they get four turnovers and give up only one. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. On average, teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

Las Vegas and Los Angeles last met in a preseason game on Aug. 21, 2021, when the Raiders narrowly overcame the Rams, 17-16.
The Raiders won their first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, 34-7.
The Rams, on the other hand, lost their preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, 34-17.
Las Vegas went a perfect 4-0 in last year's preseason, only to go 6-11 in the regular season, missing out on the postseason after ending their four-year playoff drought the year before.
Saturday's game will be exciting, as it could be the first time Raider Nation gets to see first-round pick Tyree Wilson, who was activated from the non-football injury list on Wednesday. That is a possibility but NOT a probability.

The Raiders came out hot with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in for his first drive as a member of the Silver and Black.
They marched 68-yards in nine plays, capped off with a rushing touchdown from veteran running back Brandon Bolden.
For the most part, that was the best the Raiders' offense looked the whole first half, as veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer struggled to make plays and even threw a pick six that would allow the Rams back in the game.
Hoyer would redeem himself on Las Vegas' final drive of the half, however, having led a 70-yard march in just seven plays, including a 43-yard pass to wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.
The Raiders' defense, on the other hand, has been solid so far in this contest. Had it not been for Hoyer's pick six, Los Angeles would merely have a field goal on the scoreboard.
Las Vegas placekicker Daniel Carlson is two-for-two so far on the night, having made a 46-yard field goal and a 30-yard field goal.
Los Angeles will receive to start the second half.

START OF THE THIRD QUARTER:
PENALTY: Holding penalty against the Raiders. Sets them back 10 yards.
BIG PLAY: Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell finds rookie wide receiver Tre Tucker for a 40-yard connection. Las Vegas moves up to the opposing 15-yard line.
CHALLENGE/SCORING UPDATE No. 7: Raiders challenge incomplete pass ruling. Call is overturned. O'Connell's 12-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Cam Sims is good. Las Vegas stretches its lead to 27-10 following Carlson's extra point.
PENALTY: Defensive holding against Raiders rookie defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera. Five yards.
SCORING UPDATE No. 8: Rams rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett keeps it for a four-yard touchdown rush. Extra point is good. Raiders' lead is trimmed to 10 points.
CHALLENGE: Rams challenging Tucker's 22-yard catch. Los Angeles is unsuccessful.
END OF THE THIRD QUARTER: Raiders lead, 27-17.
START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER:
TIMEOUT: Las Vegas takes its first timeout of the half with 11:44 to go in the quarter.
PENALTY: False start against the Raiders. Sets them back five yards.
SCORING UPDATE No. 9: O'Connell with a two-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson. Extra point is good. Raiders up, 34-17 with 9:43 to go.
