Raiders vs. Lions Live Game Updates, Analysis

The Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) hope to play their best football today on the road vs. the Detroit Lions (5-2), and we have all the up-to-the-minute updates.

DETROIT, Mich.--The Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) enter this Monday Night Football game in the Motor City against the resurgent Detroit Lions (5-2) with one huge reason for optimism.

Unlike other teams that have disappointingly started 2023, they have the talent to bounce back.

The Silver and Black have the weapons to snap out of their doldrums and get the 2023 season back on track.  A victory tonight would be a monster step in that direction.

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Raiders win that key statistical battle. It concerns sacks and turnovers for those who don't remember it. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus one. They are plus three if they get four turnovers and give up only one. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. On average, teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

Here are our staff and podcast guests' predictions for today:

Hondo Carpenter 24-16 Lions---Shane Carpenter 24-21 Raiders

Matt Hladik 30-17 Lions--Brayden Reedy 34-17 Lions--Tom Lamarre 24-10 Lions

Jon Schopp 27-17 Lions--Aidan Champion 21-20 Lions

Ezekiel Trezevant 31-14 Lions--Carter Landis 30-21 Lions

Glover Quin 34-16 Lions--Dave Birkett 31-21 Lions--John Makkaron 31-24 Lions

The frustration among the Las Vegas Raiders and their fans is that they have the talent to perform at a higher level, and they look to turn it on tonight at Ford Field versus the Detroit Lions.

--

The Las Vegas Raiders are holding their own against the Detroit Lions, but for this game to turn around, they need to get the passing game going.

The Raiders have not converted on a single reception to a wide receiver and have a total of only 31 receiving yards.

They did, however, begin to excel in the running game, which made up much of their 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that ended in a score for Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.

Las Vegas has been decent defensively, having limited Detroit to three field goals, but a touchdown late in the half would make this game look much less even than it actually is.

The Raiders will start the second half with the ball, a great chance for them to make a statement and get back in this football game.

RULING CONFIRMED: Raiders' ball.

PENALTY: False start against Jacobs.

PENALTY: Pass interference against Raiders cornerback Amik Robertson.

END OF THE THIRD QUARTER: Lions with a 23-14 lead.

START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER:
