Raiders' Antonio Pierce Talks Top CB Prospect
The Las Vegas Raiders have plenty of options in this year's NFL Draft, primarily including a quarterback, offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and cornerback.
One of the cornerbacks the Silver and Black are interested in is Alabama's Terrion Arnold, arguably the top cornerback in this year's draft class.
Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce had the opportunity to talk about the young defensive draft prospect from the 2024 NFL Owners' Meetings.
"Yeah, I like Arnold," Pierce said. "We had some good conversations. It started at the Combine because he came in a little lax and daisy for him, like, hey man, where's the juice? I heard you had a little stuff to you, and that picked up. And then, at the Pro Day, we were talking about ball and trying to get to know him a little bit more as a person. You never know what things are going to happen in the draft.
"But whenever you can be around a good football player, you want to talk to him. I think it's good for a person like me, a former player, to tell him what they expect. If he goes first or second round, he goes back to the bottom of the lineup. He's got to start from scratch to earn his stripe.
"When you look at this draft, you do see a bunch of talented DBs who can come in and play right away."
Arnold spent three seasons (two active) with the Crimson Tide, recording 108 total tackles, 74 solo tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 20 passes defended, and six interceptions in 25 games.
He attended and participated in this year's NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.5-yard 40-yard dash and a 1.54 10-yard split. He also posted a 37-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10 feet, 9 inches.
