The Las Vegas Raiders may have the best defensive line in the NFL, with players like Maxx Crosby, Christain Wilkinson, Malcolm Koonce, and Tyree Wilson.

However, Byron Young, a young defensive tackle, could be a factor on the Raiders' defensive line next NFL season.

Young is entering his second season with the Silver and Black. He was the 70th overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.

At Alabama, Young finished with 130 tackles, 55 solo tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and seven and a half sacks.

In his rookie season with the Silver and Black, he played six games and finished with four solo tackles.
Young finished with a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 45.6, a 45.1 run-defensive, and a 53.3 pass-rushing grade.

In the last episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, our own Hondo Carpenter Sr. had the opportunity to answer many questions. One of the questions Carpenter answered was about Young, and he shared his overall thoughts on the young defensive tackle.

"I was very high on young coming out of Alabama," Carpenter said. "I think he showed some good flashes, and then I think he struggled with confidence slightly. He's a hard-working and good kid, so he has no issues about trying to get better. His lack of success had nothing to do with character or effort. I think he just struggled with self-confidence because he was at Alabama, where he was a dawg. I think it was just an adjustment to the NFL."

"I will be watching him closely in OTA's and mini camp and bringing you updates on him. I can't wait to talk to Rob Leonard, the defensive line coach, about him."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
