The Las Vegas Raiders have a young, very talented defensive back room. One of the most promising up-and-comers in that room is second-year Raider Jakorian Bennett.

The Silver and Black selected Bennett 104th overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound cornerback played in 14 games in his rookie season, finishing with 32 total tackles, 24 solo tackles and three passes defended.

Bennett finished his rookie season with a 42.4 overall Pro Football Focus grade, a 49.4 run-defensive grade and a 41.1 coverage grade.

Bennett's best game last season came in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. He finished with seven solo tackles in the Raiders' narrow 17-16 win at Mile High Stadium.

In the last episode of the "Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast," our Hondo Carpenter Sr. had the opportunity to express his thoughts on why Bennett could take the next step this upcoming NFL season.

"I love talking JB," Carpenter said. "This is a super fast kid; I mean he is lightning quick. He can stop on a diamond and give you nine cents change. The kid is the real deal. But he is aggressive. He is a guy that was so fast he would come up in coverage because he is very aggressive, which is how you want your corners. Most corners are afraid of contact. That's not Jakorian Bennett; the kid loves it."

Carpenter also gave an example of Bennetts' aggressiveness as a cornerback last season in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Here's an example for you," Carpenter said. "Patrick Mahomes takes off running, so bam, here comes Jakorian Bennett for a full explosion. OK, but Patrick Mahomes stops on a dime just before the line of scrimmage, and because he cheated, he throws it over his head.

"He was aggressive. I think he had a lot of issues like Byron Young. Plenty of talent, the kid's got all the talent, he's got everything that is god-given that you can't teach, and he's a good kid, by the way. I like JB, but I think he struggled with his confidence. They believe in him, want him to take that next step, and think he's got all the ability to do it.

"I believe in JB, and he's a guy that has to get his confidence back."
