Davante Adams: 'I Don't Want to go Anywhere; I want to be a Raider'
As the Las Vegas Raiders experienced several setbacks over the past couple of seasons, there has been much speculation as to whether wide receiver Davante Adams regretted being traded to the Silver and Black back in March, 2022.
Since joining the Raiders, Adams has had five different starting quarterbacks (if you count Brian Hoyer), after initially planning on reuniting with his old buddy Derek Carr, who he probably assumed would be around longer than he was. The six-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver has also now had two head coaches while in Sin City, and he has yet to make the postseason as a member of the Silver and Black.
But rest assured, Raider Nation, Adams is still where he wants to be.
"I mean, I wouldn't say I ever wanted to be gone," Adams told reporters at his third annual Las Vegas youth camp on Sunday. "If I wanted to be gone, I'd be gone by now. I picked to come here; this is where I want to be, and obviously, if you're not winning and things are not going the way you want, you either want to see things change to get headed in the right direction or something else has got to change.
"So, I don't want to go anywhere. I want to be a Raider, so hopefully that answers everyone's question."
Last season, Adams had what some considered to be a "down year," even though he still surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and brought in eight touchdown receptions. He also caught 103 passes, which tied him for third-most in a single season in franchise history and bested his mark of 100 from his All-Pro season the year before.
In that 2022 season, Adams registered 1,516 receiving yards, the second-highest mark of his career, and 14 receiving touchdowns, which led the league. His 100 receptions hold the fifth-place spot on the franchise's all-time single-season reception list.
Adams, a Bay Area native, grew up a Raiders fan. He has a special love for the Silver and Black, and he has made it known that it is a dream come true for him to be a part of the storied franchise.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
