Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: DL Tuli Tuipulotu, USC Trojans

Southern California defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu is a young prospect that can develop into a starter for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 2023 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and the Las Vegas Raiders have plenty of prospects that they can draft and develop into impactful starters.

One prospect that is very intriguing on the defensive side of the ball is a 20-year-old defensive lineman whose ceiling is high as his motor.

Defensive Line Tuli Tuipulotu, USC Trojans

“The first step quickness and explosion Tuipulotu possesses from the inside is excellent. He has the natural ability to get after the quarterback from the 3-tech spot. His ability to convert speed to power is elite and he has violent hands to disrupt offensive guards. Tuipulotu already has a solid pass-rush repertoire from the inside and outside, which is hard to find from only a two-year player,” NFL Draft Bible said of Tuilulotu.

What stands out the most about Tuipulotu on tape is his skill set of moves and knowing when to use them appropriately.

At 6-3 and 268 pounds, Tuipulotu was known as a balanced defensive lineman, who played nearly the same amount of snaps on both the interior and exterior of the defensive line.

Last season as a junior, Tuipulotu recorded 46 total tackles (31 solos), 22 tackles for losses, 13 sacks, three pass deflections, and two forced fumbles in 14 games.

There’s plenty of upside in Tuipulotu's game, but there are areas where he needs to improve and be more disciplined.

Projected as a Day Two selection, he could be a great fit on the Raiders’ defense that lacks depth, and at such a young age he could be a developmental solution for years to come.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
