The Las Vegas Raiders are approaching the two-week mark for the 2023 NFL Draft, and trying to add a few more prospects before they travel to Kansas City at the end of the month.

In what appears to be a small draft class at safety, the Raiders are scouting heavily and one player, in particular, led the Big 12 in interceptions.

Safety Jason Taylor II, Oklahoma State

“Taylor has special teams experience on the kick return, kick coverage, punt return, punt coverage, and field goal block units. He lined up in the slot, box, and traditional two-high alignments at Oklahoma State,” NFL Draft Bible said of Taylor II.

According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Raiders have met with Taylor II during their pre-draft and he is set to visit other AFC teams, including their rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Taylor is a versatile player who could be utilized anywhere on special teams and in the secondary.

He is a player who is willing to do all the dirty work, yet he is a player that moved up to become a leader in the locker room.

Taylor began his football career on special teams, before becoming a full-time starter at safety in 2021.

Last season, Taylor recorded 99 tackles (80 solos), 3.5 tackles for losses, six interceptions, and 13 pass deflections. He led the Big 12 in interceptions.

“The redshirt senior has excellent arm length and confirmed his explosive athleticism at the NFL Scouting Combine. He displays ideal closing burst. Taylor had terrific ball production in his final season with the Cowboys. His ball-tracking skills are impressive. Taylor is physical at the catch point to force incompletions. He’s at his best when allowed to sit back and survey the whole field,” Draft Bible added.

Taylor had a good showing at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, which showcased why he should be selected in this year’s draft.

Projected as a late-round selection, Taylor fits well coming off the board around the sixth round.
