Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Jadakis Bonds, Hampton
The Las Vegas Raiders' red zone offense continues to regress, and while there were many factors on why the offense left points on the field, the 2023 NFL Draft is certain to bring help on offense.
Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler will have another offseason to bring in the right personnel and help this team turn things around.
This offseason, we'll be working alongside SI’s Draft Bible to get you the latest information on any potential players the Raiders may consider drafting, including some that might fall into the draft's later rounds.
“We’re going to continue to find players who fit what we look for, and continue to build this team in our vision, and I think we’re going to, at the same time, our goal is to win football games, and our goal for next year is to make an improvement over where we were this year,” Ziegler said.
Wide Receiver Jadakis Bonds, Hampton
“At his 6-4 frame, Bonds became the Pirates' go-to target during red zone situations and vertical shots down the field this past year. During Hampton's first season in the vaunted CAA, Jadakis was a first-team all-conference selection who registered a 76.1 PFF receiving grade across 90 pass-targets,” HBCU Legends said of Bonds.
As a senior last season, Bonds was able to rack up 49 receptions for 855 yards and ten touchdowns. He had 180 receptions for 2731 yards and 34 touchdowns throughout his career at Hampton.
Bonds is leaving Hampton as the program’s touchdown-leading receiver in both the single-season and career touchdown categories and holding the career receptions record.
The outside receiver has all the intangibles the Raiders are looking for in red zone threats.
After a great showing at the East-West Shrine Bowl, Bonds is another player on the rise and could continue to elevate his draft stock at his pro day.
As for the Raiders, they can select a player like Bonds, whose set of skills can help this offense.
Projected as a day three selection, primarily in the fifth round, Bonds can come in as a day one contributor and work his way into the starting lineup.
The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., from Thursday, April 27, to Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.
