Davante Adams Talks on Goals as the Season Approaches
Star wide receiver Davante Adams is in his ninth training camp in the NFL. He is also entering his second training camp and second season with the Silver and Black.
Adams performed very well last season while playing for a new team the Las Vegas Raiders. He finished the season with 100 receptions for 1,516 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
The veteran has proven to be one the best receivers in the National Football League. He is entering his ninth season and tries to achieve his goals as the season progresses.
Adams had the chance to share some of his goals for this upcoming season with the media from Raiders' training camp.
"I change very specific goals," Adams said. "As far as a goal for me is being more efficient at the top of a comeback. It's not having 1,500 yards again. At the end of the day, I'm going to do enough right on the tape to where I'm going to get enough looks from the quarterback, and obviously my coaching staff, to where the numbers are going to be there as long as -- God willing -- I'm healthy.
"So, for me, it's not about the numbers and trying to hit certain numbers. It's making the tape look a certain way. And with a certain amount of looks from the quarterback, we're going to be able to make the rest of that stuff happen. But the quarterback has nothing to do with the way that I come out in my comeback, or how flat I come out of an in-cut, or if I stack the guy rather than going too wide and things like that. So, those are the goals that I focus on."
With the rest of training camp and preparing for the start of the regular season, it will be worth noting and seeing if Adams will strive for his goals this upcoming 2023-24 NFL season.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
