Raiders Draft Prospect: USC Wide Receiver Brenden Rice
The Las Vegas Raiders could benefit greatly in the long run from selecting a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Should the opportunity present itself early on Day 2, Las Vegas should consider former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice, who has strong ties to the organization.
Rice is the son of former Oakland Raider and NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice.
Jerry Rice spent three-plus seasons with the Raiders in the twilight of his 20-year career and was a huge part of their run to Super Bowl XXXVII.
Brenden Rice began his college career with Colorado in 2020, where he played for two seasons, totaling 419 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Rice transferred to USC in 2022 and in his first season with the Trojans, he recorded 611 yards and four touchdowns on 39 receptions. He averaged 15.7 yards per catch.
This past season, Brenden Rice separated himself as one of the best wide receivers in the Pac-12, finishing the season with 791 yards and 12 touchdowns on 45 receptions while averaging 17.58 yards per catch. He would be named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team.
With the possibility of Raiders slot receiver Hunter Renfrow starting next season with a new team, a young player like Rice would be a great addition to have in the receiving room, as he had experience as both an outside weapon and a slot receiver in college.
Rice is not quite ready to be a team's top-two receiving option, but him battling with Tre Tucker for the No. 3 spot could be perfect for the development of each player's games.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
