Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. Talks Raiders
Many top quarterbacks in this year's 2024 NFL Draft had the opportunity to talk to the media Friday morning at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana.
One of the top quarterbacks who had the chance to talk to the media was Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Penix Jr. spent six seasons playing at the division one college level, but in two seasons he dealt with season-ending injuries that caused him to be redshirted.
After starting his college career at Indiana. Penix Jr. spent four seasons with the Hoosiers, playing in 21 games and throwing 342 completions on 576 attempts for 4,197 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Penix Jr. later transferred to Washington, where he spent two seasons and completed 725 passes on 1,109 attempts for 9,544 yards and 67 touchdowns.
According to Pro Football Focus, Penix Jr. finished his last season with the Huskies with a PFF offensive grade of 91.1 and a passing grade 90.5.
Penix Jr. was able to meet with the Silver and Black and had the chance to talk about the meeting, as well as the Raiders organization and Coach Antonio Pierce.
"Yeah, I did meet with them," Penix Jr. said. "I feel like that organization was doing a lot of great things toward the end of the season. I know a lot of guys speak highly of Coach AP and the things that he is able to do. I was able to see him and meet with him, and he's pretty cool guy."
Penix Jr. was a candidate for the 2023 Heisman Trophy and is projected to be an early-round selection in this year's NFL Draft.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
