Raiders Draft Prospect: WR Adonai Mitchell, Texas
One general element that the Las Vegas Raiders have lacked over the past 20 years is winning. Since their success in the early 2000s the Silver and Black have made just two trips to the playoffs and did not win either game.
What better way to build a winning culture than to bring in players who are known to win? While there is quite a difference from finding success at the college level and doing so at the NFL level, winning is a trait that organizations do very much value in the draft.
Former Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is not just one of the best at his position in this year's draft class, but he knows what it takes to win. Mitchell went to the College Football Playoff in all three of his collegiate seasons and won two titles with the Georgia.
In his rookie season, Mitchell posted 426 receiving yards and four touchdowns while playing in all 15 games (12 starts) for the Bulldogs. He made two big catches for a total of 50 yards in the title game against Alabama, one of which was the go-ahead 40-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Mitchell unfortunately missed nine games with a high-ankle sprain in the 2022 season. He returned for the team's most crucial stretch of the season, though, starting with the SEC Championship game. Mitchell and the Bulldogs would go on to win a second consecutive national title, and he even recorded a touchdown in the championship game.
The star wideout then decided to transfer to Texas, where he turned in the best season of his career. Mitchell totaled 845 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns in the 2023 season. He would help lead the Longhorns to the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff, where they fell to Washington.
Mitchell was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and was named the conference's newcomer of the year.
Should the Raiders have an early second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mitchell would be a strong selection who would make a great addition to their wide receiver room.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
