Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Devontez Walker, UNC

Former North Carolina wide receiver Devontez Walker would be a great steal for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders have a number of talented wide receivers to choose from in this year's NFL Draft if they choose to go that direction with an early-round pick.

Even if the Raiders decide to look elsewhere with their first-round pick, there should be plenty of under-the-radar receiver prospects in the second and third rounds.

Former North Carolina star wide receiver Devontez "Tez" Walker is one of those prospects who has much more to offer than his already impressive stats show on paper.

Walker was one of standout quarterback Drake Maye's primary weapons in the 2023 season, who proved he could thrive in a Power Five conference after transferring from Kent State.

Walker had a late start with the Tar Heels after having to miss North Carolina's first four games due to his transfer. In just his second game with the program, Walker exploded for 132 receiving yards and three touchdowns against the then No. 25-ranked team in the country, Miami (Fl). He then turned around the following game to record 146 receiving yards and a touchdown while tying a career-high 11 receptions against Virginia.

On Nov. 11, Walker posted a career-high 162 receiving yards on just seven receptions against Duke.

The prospect finished his lone season with the Tar Heels with 699 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in just eight games. He was named to the All-ACC Third Team.

Walker played two seasons at Kent State and was named to the All-MAC First Team for his 2022 season, in which he totaled 921 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown in 12 games.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
