Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington

Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce stressed in his introductory press conference on Wednesday that there is going to be an emphasis on downfield plays in the future, a style that the team showed signs of under his reign this season.

The 2024 NFL Draft class has a number of deep-threat options at wide receiver, including Washington wideout Ja'Lynn Polk.

Polk was Heisman Trophy Finalist Michael Penix Jr.'s No. 2 receiving target next to All-American wide receiver Rome Odunze. The three of them would help lead the Huskies to the College Football National Championship, where they fell to Michigan. Their 14 victories this last season set a program record.

Polk finished the season with 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns on 69 receptions, while playing in all 15 games. He posted 100-plus receiving yards in seven games, including a 122-yard, one-touchdown receiving game against Texas in the Sugar Bowl. His 14 deep catches (20-plus yards) tied him for eighth-most in the nation, while his 567 deep yards ranked him 10th, according to Pro Football Focus.

Having played only three games due to injury in his first season with the Huskies, Polk was named to the Freshman All-American Third Team by College Football News for his 2022 campaign. He totaled 694 yards and six touchdowns on 41 receptions while making eight starts in 13 appearances. Polk had a career game against Michigan State that season in which he made six receptions for 153 yards and three touchdowns. 

The touchdown total tied him for second-most in program history in a single game.

Polk's college career began at Texas Tech, where he recorded 264 yards and two touchdowns on 28 receptions during in the 2020 season.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
