AFC West Week 8 Preview: SNF in LA, Chiefs-Broncos II
With the Los Angeles Chargers' 31-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8, the Las Vegas Raiders remain in second place in the AFC West despite a 30-12 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears.
Meanwhile, a victory by the Denver Broncos over the Green Bay Packers advanced them to 2-4.
Here's what to look for from the Raiders' three AFC West rivals in Week 8:
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
These teams faced off only two weeks ago in the Week 6 edition of Thursday Night Football.
The Chiefs dominated defensively on their home field, shutting out the Broncos through three quarters before allowing a touchdown in the fourth.
They held the Broncos to 82 passing yards while forcing three turnovers.
Had it not been for Kansas City's seven penalties for 84 yards, the defending Super Bowl champions likely would have put up more on the scoreboard than 19 points.
Denver is riding a momentous 19-17 victory over Green Bay at home that was sealed with an interception in the final two minutes.
But the Chiefs are on a five-game winning streak that does not seem in jeopardy against Denver (2-5), even if it is at Empower Field at Mile High.
Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are back home for this Sunday Night Football game, but if the Bears' surprise win over the Raiders last Sunday indicates the Chicago team we'll see this weekend, Los Angeles could be at risk of losing a third consecutive game.
But that's a big "if."
The Bears played their best football of the season against Las Vegas, and they won't have the luxury of being at home this week.
Then again, the Chargers are second-to-last in the league in total defense, which should be very assuring for Chicago fans, as the Bears are 10th in the league in offensive yards per game in the last three games.
This would not have been much of a conversation a week ago, but Chicago has proven it is not to be counted out.
The Silver and Black will stay on the road to take on the Detroit Lions on Monday night, Oct. 30, at 8:15 p.m. EDT/5:15 p.m. PDT.
