Raiders Punter AJ Cole Selected to 2023 Pro Bowl

The Las Vegas Raiders will send another player to this year's Pro Bowl.

Punter AJ Cole has been named to the AFC roster for this Sunday's game as a replacement for Kansas City Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend, the Raiders and the NFL announced Monday.

Cole will join Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, wide receiver Davante Adams, and defensive end Maxx Crosby.

This will be the punter's second-straight trip to the Pro Bowl. Both he and Crosby represented the Silver and Black last year, along with wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.

Cole averaged 48.9 gross yards per punt during the 2022 season, good enough for fourth in the league. He also totaled 2,884 yards on 59 yards and downed 20.3 percent of his punts inside the 10-yard line.

Cole finished second in the league in punts inside the 5-yard line with five.

On Sunday, the 2023 Pro Bowl will be held on the Raiders' home field, Allegiant Stadium. For the first time, the event will be going away from a traditional football game to what will now be a seven-on-seven flag football format.

The Pro Bowl skills challenge begins at 4 p.m. PST on Thursday. The game will kick off at noon PST and be televised on ESPN.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EST on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EST on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EST on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EST on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
