Alabama Tackle JC Latham Talks Las Vegas Raiders
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- JC Latham of Alabama is one of the top offensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft class and could be taken by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 13 overall pick next month.
"It would mean the world just to be drafted by any team," Latham said at the NFL Combine on Saturday. "I know a lot of guys over there, and I like the organization. So, just meeting with those guys and being with the coaching staff, I really enjoyed my time over there."
One of those people Latham knows is defensive tackle Byron Young, whom the Raiders selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
"(Young) went to Alabama, obviously," Latham said. "So, I just loved going against him in practice. He's a really unique guy, really powerful, and he always made me better."
Latham was Alabama's starting right tackle over the last two seasons. He helped lead the Crimson Tide to an SEC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff. He was named to the 2023 All-SEC First Team, as well as the Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News, and Walter Camp All-America Second Team.
The 6-foot-6, 360-pound Latham recorded 41 knockdown blocks in 813 snaps, averaging 3.2 per game. He received an overall grade of 81.9 from Pro Football Focus for his 2023 season.
Drafting a top offensive tackle prospect like Latham would be huge for Las Vegas, as offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor and veteran offensive tackle Brandon Parker will be eligible for free agency this offseason.
Latham also comes from a winning program, which would make him a great addition to a team looking to build its winning culture back up.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
