Tackle Mims 'Really Enjoyed' Meeting With Raiders

Tackle Amarius Mims of Georgia has met with the Las Vegas Raiders.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Las Vegas Raiders have several top-tier offensive tackles to use their 13th overall pick on in next month's draft.

Former Georgia Bulldog Amarius Mims is one of them, and he and the Raiders recently met as the 2024 NFL Draft approaches.

"I had a good meeting with them," Mims said at the NFL Combine on Saturday. "Like I said, it was more like everybody else, asking the hard questions. I got on the board for those guys, and like I said, I really enjoyed that meeting."

Mims would be key for a Raiders team that might need to field a different tackle rotation next season, as he has experience playing both right and left tackle.

"I feel like as you play right tackle or left tackle in college, you are a tackle, I feel like," Mims said. "You have to be ready to play both because you never know what might happen. You could get drafted, you could play all your snaps at right, and next thing you know, in the league, you would be a left tackle. 

"So, I feel like you got to be ready to play both, honestly."

Mims only had a little starting experience entering his final season at Georgia, and even then, he made only six starts in that final campaign. But he is not deterred.

"I had to mature early, go in the portal, and all that good stuff that kind of matured me fast," Mims said. "And like I said, I know I don't have the amount of starts and snaps as many guys here, but I feel like I'm just as prepared and just as good as everybody else here."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
