The Las Vegas Raiders are returning a key member of their special teams for the 2024 season.

The team confirmed Friday that it has re-signed running back Ameer Abdullah. The veteran is the second-oldest running back on their  roster at 30 years old and will be entering his 10th NFL season.

Abdullah has spent the last two seasons with the Raiders, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in March 2022. He has played every game for the Silver and Black since, recording 19 rushing yards, 342 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown, and 543 yards on 26 kickoff returns.

Last season, Abdullah posted 131 receiving yards on 19 receptions and 89 rushing yards on 15 attempts.

After playing four years at Nebraska, Abdullah was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He would play three-plus seasons with Detroit, registering 1,251 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 420 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.

As a rookie, Abdullah led the league in kickoff returns at 37 and yards returned from kickoffs at 1,077.

Abdullah would finish the 2018 season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent two more seasons and six games in the 2021 season before he was released and signed by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are the only team for which Abdullah has ever started a game in his NFL career.

Abdullah has totaled 1,683 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 1,207 receiving yards, eight receiving touchdowns, and 3,487 yards off 142 kickoff returns.

In addition, Abdullah is second among all active players in career kickoff return yards and career kickoff returns. He has done so in 45 fewer games than the leader, Cordarrelle Patterson.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
