What a 'Winning Culture' is in the Eyes of Coach Pierce

Las Vegas Raiders Interim Coach Antonio Pierce and his team are carrying the same mindset following his first loss as a head coach.

Pierce comes off his first loss as head coach, but while the 20-13 defeat to the Miami Dolphins shows up as a tally in the loss column, the Raiders' coach believes his team followed and executed the guidelines of a winning formula.

"Win, lose or draw, the product that you see on the field is that of, some would say: 'OK, well they might have came up short,'" Pierce told reporters Tuesday. "Like, at the end of the day, we ran out of time. That's what I told our players today: we ran out of time.

"And, like I said, regardless of what the score is, the way we play, our intention of how we play, the execution of our play, the mindset of our team -- that's what I'm looking for. And I think we've done that win, lose or draw. Obviously, we were short last week, but then it's a new week, and we're at home and we're excited."

Pierce believes the Raiders have displayed that mindset through his first three games as head coach.

A team that had once looked rather lost, disconnected and frustrated after a loss now has the players looking at the positives, with faith that they are moving in the right direction with six games remaining in the regular season.

"I think the team has been the same win, lose or draw," Pierce said. "Like, they're not blinking. They got the same attitude, the mindset. We're talking the same, we're not getting frustrated, we're not pointing fingers. You hear 'team,' you see 'we.' You hear 'we,' you see 'us.' And I think that's the key part of it."

The Raiders are third in the AFC West with a very tough schedule ahead, starting with the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Silver and Black will return home this week to celebrate Thanksgiving and take on their AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday, November 26, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST.
