Brandon Facyson Playing Alongside College Teammate

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Brandon Facyson talks about playing alongside former college football teammate Divine Deablo.

There are many opportunities in the NFL a player could experience. One of those experiences is having the chance to play alongside former NFL teammates or even former college teammates.

The Raiders have two players on their defense who played together at Virginia Tech. Those players are cornerback Brandon Facyson and linebacker Divine Deablo, and they have had the chance to play together for the first time since college.

Deablo spent five seasons with the Hokies and was drafted by the Raiders in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Brandon Facyson also spent five seasons with the Hokies and is entering his sixth season in the NFL. Facyson is returning to the Silver and Black, having played on the Raiders defense during the 2021 NFL season.

Facyson had the chance to discuss reuniting with his former Virginia Tech teammate Divine Deablo with the media.

"Man, so me and Deablo, we're at Virginia Tech together, and he was playing safety," Facyson said. "And then when I got here in 2021, obviously when he was drafted, he was switched to linebacker. He's gotten bigger. He was always a big dude, but definitely got bigger. He's been phenomenal.

"Even from that 2021 season, him learning the defense, coming in and making plays. And then when I came back, he is still doing his thing and making plays still. I'm proud of him. I knew him when he was 'young young.' We played two seasons together at Virginia Tech. Just seeing him grow every single day and him having that confidence to do his thing, it's been cool."

Having two teammates that have played together in college can bring a different form of chemistry to the Raiders' defense. They both look to force more turnovers this upcoming NFL season on the Raiders' defense.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
