Facyson Carted Off in Raiders' First Practice in Pads
Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Brandon Facyson suffered an apparent leg injury in the club's first practice in pads on Tuesday. He had to be carted off the field.
Not only was it an unfortunate sight for the Raiders, who just got back one of their best cornerbacks from two seasons ago, but it was an unlucky setback for Facyson himself, who had recently expressed his appreciation for actually experiencing training camp with the team.
When Facyson was signed by Las Vegas in 2021, four games in the season had already passed.
"It's been great," Facyson told reporters on Monday. "Obviously, when I was here in 2021, I was kind of familiar with the system, I was familiar with some of the guys who were already here. Some of those guys are still here, but being able to go through a full training camp here in a new defense, it's coming along very well. And I think we're jelling together well, and it's been great.
"Just working every single day, we've been through OTAs, now we're going through training camp. So, not a different level of competitiveness, but it’s definitely hyped up. Training camps is a grind as we all know, so just kind of staying even keel and coming in here just ready to work every single day has been great."
Facyson began his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech in 2017. He spent three seasons with the Chargers before he was waived on Sept. 1, 2021.
Facyson had a career season in his first stint as a Raider, having recorded 55 combined tackles, two for losses, 13 passes defensed, and an interception in only 12 games including nine starts.
In total, he has registered 143 combined tackles, four for losses, 20 passes defensed, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and an interception in his five seasons.
Facyson was added back to the Raiders' roster in March after playing one season with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
