Jimmy Garoppolo 1-1 as Starting QB Against Bills
The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing to take on the Buffalo Bills in an AFC West vs. AFC East match-up in Week 2 of the NFL season.
The Raiders are coming off a Week 1 AFC West divisional victory over the Denver Broncos, while the Bills are coming off a Week 1 AFC East loss to the New York Jets in overtime on Monday night.
Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had a terrific first game with the Raiders last Sunday against the Broncos. He completed 20-of-26 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
Garoppolo ended the game with an eight-yard scramble to help run out the clock for the Raiders late in the fourth quarter. He spoke to the media about it after the game on Sunday.
“It was awesome, just everything came together," Garoppolo said. "I thought guys really stepped up in those big moments today. [WR] Jakobi [Meyers] making a huge first down for us, getting the penalty, the O-line blocked great today. It was all of those little things coming together.”
This Sunday will be Garoppolo's third time facing the Buffalo Bills.
According to Statmuse.com, Garoppolo is 1-1 as a starting quarterback against the Bills. This will be the first time since the 2016 NFL season that Garoppolo will play against the Bills.
Garoppolo has lots of familiarity with the Bills. He spent multiple seasons as a backup to Tom Brady with the New England Patriots. Garoppolo had the chance to play against the Bills during his rookie season in 2014. He completed 10-of-17 passes for 90 yards and finished the game with a 73.2 QB rating.
Now Garoppolo looks to go 2-1 in his career against the Bills with a victory, but most importantly, lead the Raiders to a win and a 2-0 record.
The Silver and Black remain on the road this week as they travel to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
