Bye Week Comes at Convenient Time for Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders head into their bye week with back-to-back losses.

The Las Vegas Raiders will finally get a break this week, and it is much-needed.

The Raiders come off two consecutive losses which have put them two games below .500 with five games left in their season.

While the team's bye week has come quite late in the season, the timing could not have been better.

With a 5-7 record through 12 weeks, the Raiders have an opportunity to rest up a very battered team before remaining at home for two straight games.

Not only will the Raiders have a chance to get back to an even record, but Interim Coach Antonio Pierce will be in a position to get his resume as head coach back on track.

"We've got two home games coming up," Pierce said to reporters after the Raiders' 31-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. "We talked about that as a team, as a staff. It is a great opportunity for us.

"With three straight home games -- obviously, this one didn't go the way we wanted it to -- but we've got the Vikings coming up. But first and foremost, I told our guys to get themselves right, get healthy, get fresh, as 12 weeks is a long time to go without a bye.

"And these guys have really battled through and are fighting through injuries. You saw what Maxx [Crosby] went through this week and his will to want to play. These guys are not quitting.

"There's no quit in this team, and there won't be quit next week. They're going into the bye, we'll become fresh, we'll get back to work on Monday and get ready for the Vikings at home."

Following their two-game home stretch, the Raiders will meet the Chiefs again, this time at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Christmas Day. They then head to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to take on the Indianapolis Colts, before returning home for their final game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos.

The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
