Raiders to Face Elite WR in Bears' Moore
The Las Vegas Raiders have won their last two games, and are looking to make it a third when they go on the road to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
The Bears are 1-5 this season, and starting quarterback Justin Fields left their most recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings due to an injury. His great play this season has kept them in games, and it would be unfortunate for them if he were to miss any time.
One player who has been a bright spot for the Bears despite a rough season is wide receiver D.J. Moore, who has made 32 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns. He is on pace to shatter his career highs in those statistics.
Moore was selected with the No. 24 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers out of Maryland. After five seasons with the Panthers, Moore was traded to the Bears as part of the blockbuster deal that landed Carolina the No. 1 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.
In those five seasons, Moore caught 364 passes for 5,732 yards and 26 touchdowns. He posted three straight seasons of more than 1,100 yards despite inconsistent quarterback play.
Moore is 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, and can win on the field in several ways. He possesses elite speed and hands, and thrives in yards-after-catch situations. Moore had the best game of his career against the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football when he caught eight passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, showing off speed after the catch and gaining yards downfield.
Moore has played against the Raiders only once, catching four passes for 54 yards in a loss.
The Raiders have faced two of the league’s top receivers this year, but Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham’s unit has been ready. Stefon Diggs and Keenan Allen have combined for only 10 receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown.
Moore is one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL, and is in the midst of a career-best season. The Raiders will need to be able to slow him down if they want to have a chance to win the game, otherwise he will make his presence felt.
The Silver and Black will head on the road to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
