Raiders Contract Year Players: Bilal Nichols
The Las Vegas Raiders are wrapping up the 2023 NFL offseason and are preparing for the regular season, as OTAs start next month.
When those summer programs get underway, Head Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler will get a chance to see what they will have on their roster.
For Ziegler, this will also be a chance to see what players on expiring contracts look like, and the regular season will be a determining factor in whether or not those players return to the team next year.
One player on an expiring contract is defensive lineman Bilal Nichols. Nichols spent last season with the Raiders after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears.
In his first season in the Silver and Black, Nichols started all 17 games at the defensive tackle spot, posting 44 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one and a half sacks. He played 805 snaps, second on the team only to Maxx Crosby.
The Raiders head into the 2023 NFL Draft with the expectation that they will at some point add a defensive lineman. Whether this means they are looking to replace Nichols or just add to the position, a very good season would help his case of returning to the Raiders after this upcoming season.
