The Las Vegas Raiders have been without star running back Josh Jacobs all training camp so far

The league's reigning rushing champion decided to train on his own after he and the club failed to settle on a contract extension before the July 17 deadline for franchise players.

Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams expressed his disapproval with the situation when he joined Bridget Condon and David Shaw on the NFL Network on Sunday.

"I mean, you see the way we like to play the game," Adams said. "We like to run the ball. You've got to have somebody back there that's a dog, that if you're going to give it to him over 300 times. So, not having him right now is obviously something that I'm not happy with. But we've got to keep it going as a team until we figure out that piece. But obviously, he's a huge part of this team and this offense; he's a really good leader, and obviously, he played like the best back in the league last year, which if you ask me, he is the best back in the league.

"So, it's tough not having him at this part of the training period trying to get ready for the season, but we'll see what happens down the line. But definitely he was a big part of this team in the past, so hopefully we can figure something out."

Adams and Jacobs were each selected to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team for their 2022 seasons.

Jacobs' career-best 1,653 rushing yards, 97.2 rushing yards per game, and 2,053 yards from scrimmage were all No. 1 in the league.

The Raiders chose to place the franchise tag on the 25-year-old running back this offseason, but were unable to get a long-term deal worked out.

Jacobs was one of only six players in the league to be placed on the franchise tag.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
