Tre'von Moehrig, Raiders Defense Ready to "Bring It"

The Las Vegas Raiders' defense has been serviceable so far this season. They look to continue growing as a unit.

The Las Vegas Raiders have emphasized scouting and developing their players to reach their highest potential. The Raiders have taken the responsibility to find talent that best fits their vision on and off the field.

Safety Tre'von Moehrig was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and is a player Las Vegas' coaching staff invested a lot of time with since entering the league.

Moehrig is a naturally talented player who has gradually grown over his first few seasons in the NFL.

"I'm taking it day by day, pcking up pieces each day and trying to take it over to the game," Moehrig told Sports Illustrated. "I think that goes for everybody. I don't think anybody would say they have it figured out, even the great ones. So, we just keep pushing."

Moehrig was responsible for the Raider defense's first turnover of the season, one they sorely needed as a unit last week with an interception against the Los Angeles Chargers at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

Even though the Raiders have only that one turnover this season, Moehrig claimed the defense is as focused as ever on turnovers and disrupting the opposing offense any way they possibly can.

"We want to be aggressive but make sure we all do our 1/11 and just find a way to get to the ball against the run and the pass," Moehrig said. "Try to get our hands on the football, turning it over, breaking it up [passes], getting fumbles. So, that's our mindset."

The Raiders are back in Las Vegas on Monday night to play quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers, a team that is one of the best in the league at protecting the football. Las Vegas' defense knows precisely how dangerous the Packers' offense can be and will have to ensure they're up for the challenge.

"They're explosive, everybody over there is explosive," Moehrig said. "They've got a lot of good playmakers. They can run the ball, throw the ball. So, we're going to have to be on our job. We've got to bring it."

The Raiders are 1-3, although their defense has played as well, if not better than could've reasonably been expected entering the season. It will be important they continue holding up their end of complimentary football if the Raiders hope to inch closer to .500.

The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next week to play the Green Bay Packers on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8:15 p.m. EDT/5:15 p.m. PDT.
