Raiders Play a New-Look Denver Broncos Team
The Las Vegas Raiders might play in one of the best divisions in the NFL, and that division is the AFC West. Last season, the Raiders finished the division with a 3-3 record and finished third in the AFC West.
However, one of the teams the Raiders play in the AFC West this year is a new-look team from last NFL season.
Like the Raiders, the Denver Broncos have had a busy NFL off-season. The Broncos finished last season with a record of 5-12 and were last in the AFC West with of record of 1-5 in divisional play.
Following a disappointing 2022-23 NFL season, the Broncos fired Coach Nathaniel Hackett after a one-year head coaching stint. The Broncos resolved the head coaching position by hiring Sean Payton on Feb. 6.
Sean Payton has 25 years of coaching experience in the National Football League. He spent 15 seasons as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, where he led the Saints to a Superbowl XLIV win.
As a head coach, Payton has coached in 17 playoff games and has a record of 9-8 in those games. He also has coached 241 games, with a record of 152-89.
The hope for the Broncos and Payton is to turn around their offensive scheme and scoring from last season. The Broncos finished the season with a total of 29 touchdowns. The year before, in the 2021-22 NFL season, they finished with 37 total touchdowns. It will be interesting to see what changes Payton will make to the Broncos' offense this upcoming NFL season.
Payton is entering his 16th NFL season as an NFL head coach. He took a year-long retirement and went into broadcasting, joining the FOX NFL Gameday Pregame Show.
The Raiders play the Broncos on week 1 in Denver, Sept. 10 at 1:25 PT. The Raiders will also play them on week 17 in Allegiant Stadium, Jan. 7, on the final week of the 2023-24 NFL Season.
The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:
OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15
Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
