The Las Vegas Raiders have had no shortage of great fantasy football players in recent years.

The two most prominent from last season, of course, were running back Josh Jacobs and wide receiver Davante Adams, both having been top-five players at their position.

Obviously for fantasy owners, the big names will be taken -- or have already been taken -- off your draft board early, but that doesn't mean you can't find some diamonds in the rough late in the draft or even after the draft.

In an article posted by Sports Illustrated on Tuesday, contributors from around FanNation gave their takes as to who would be a fantasy football candidate from the team they cover.

Our own Hondo S. Carpenter Sr. chose rookie tight end Michael Mayer and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers as his picks for the Raiders.

Here was his reasoning:

"Josh McDaniels is thrilled with two breakout players in 2023. The first is Mayer, the rookie from Notre Dame, who has already shot to the top of the depth chart. The second breakout player is Meyers. He has had a sensational camp, and even though he is WR2, WR1 Davante Adams has received so much attention that Meyers is on fire, destroying the San Francisco 49ers in joint practices."

Mayer was taken in the second round out of Notre Dame, where he played for three seasons. He finished his college career with 2,099 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns on 180 receptions. He attained 800-plus receiving yards in each of his final two seasons.

Mayer was named a consensus All-American in his final campaign with the Fighting Irish.

Meyers, who is also a first-year Raider, does have experience as a starting receiver in the National Football League.

In his four seasons with the New England Patriots, Meyers registered 2,758 receiving yards and eight touchdown receptions. He finished 29th in the NFL in PPR fantasy points among wide receivers (180.3) and 32nd in standard points (113.3).

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.
