Foster Moreau Diagnosed With Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Las Vegas Raiders free-agent tight end Foster Moreau announced on Wednesday that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and will be absent from football for at least now.
Moreau found out about the diagnosis when he was evaluated by the Saints' medical staff in New Orleans.
The tight end took to Twitter to make the announcement:
"Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me. During a routine physical conducted by the Saints' medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer. I’m grateful for the support and thankful for people who have stood firm with me. There hasn’t been a single step I’ve taken without hundreds of people lighting the path before me, and I will continue to seek their guidance. That being said, I’ll go kick this thing’s ass and get back to doing what I love! AMDG!"
According to Mayo Clinic: "Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body's germ-fighting immune system. In Hodgkin's lymphoma, white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control, causing swollen lymph nodes and growths throughout the body."
Moreau recorded 420 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders last season. He was a key replacement over the last couple of seasons during periods that former Raiders tight end Darren Waller missed due to various injuries.
Moreau registered 1,107 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Silver and Black.
The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.
The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
