GM Tom Telesco Talks About Relationship With Players

Tom Telesco talked about the relationships he will have with players as the new general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders.

New General Manager Tom Telesco and Coach Antonio Pierce had their first press conference on Wednesday, explaining the future and what's next for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Many key points were discussed about what is next for the Raiders, including relationships between coaches and players, as well as relationships between players and the general manager.

Telesco had the chance to speak to the media about relationships with the players, how the relationships will be treated as family, and how they should be treated as professional athletes.

"Yeah, to me the relationship with the players is no different than relationship with your family, with your friends," Telesdo said. "You treat them well. You're honest with them. That doesn't necessarily always mean what you tell them they're going to like, but if you're honest with them and straight with them, I think they appreciate that. What we'll do here, which I know they do already, but these players for us, they're not just a player with a helmet on. They have families. They have lives off the field. It's important to us to know that and work through that."

Telesco also explained the importance of the relationships he will have with the players.

"Really when you're in this spot and when you're the head coach and you've got players out there battling for you every game, practice and games, training room, weight room, and I realize that they're paid for their job, but you can't help but have relationships with those guys," Telesco said.

"They're going to battle for you every week. That's the way this business is. That's the way football is. That's why it's so great. It's the greatest team sport in the world. The players are important to me, to make sure they know we care and to make sure they know that what they need, come see us because hopefully we can get that done and find the right resources for them. But yeah, it's important. I think everybody in here, you treat the players the way you treat your family."

Exciting times are happening in Las Vegas and seeing this new era for the Raiders will be great to watch.
