What Josh McDaniels Has Learned From Last Season

Las Vegas Raiders Josh McDaniels broke down some things he learned in his coaching career.

Josh McDaniels is entering his second season as the Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach. Last NFL Season, the Raiders finished the season 6-11 and in third place in the AFC West.

The Raiders hope for a bounce-back season.

Overall, The Raiders have had a busy off-season by signing new players who hope to impact the team immediately. The Raiders, like other teams, also made a lot of noise in this year's 2023 NFL Draft.

McDaniels shared with the media what he learned from his first coaching season for the Raiders and what he can do better for this upcoming 2023-24 NFL Season.

Here is what McDaniels shared to the Media on his learning experience from last season and what he knows now, entering his second season as the Raiders Head Coach. 

"Our game is, I would say, evolving every year, so if you don't evolve with it, sometimes you can just get run over," McDaniels said. "If you just stay stagnant and stay committed to something that might have worked seven, 10, 12 years ago, it might not necessarily be the best thing to do anymore. I think there are certain techniques and fundamentals that will always be important and probably will always remain the same, but I know that our staff, we challenged ourselves in the spring when the players were away to really just go back and look at the things we did, the way we taught it, the pace that we implemented it at, the drills we were doing to try to get the things we wanted them to learn to stick. And I think the staff deserves the credit for that. They've done a good job of really trying to identify the right pace we should go at, the right volume that we should put in and then the right ways to go about teaching those things."

The Raiders only have a few weeks until training camp begins in July. There are 96 days until the Raiders kick off the 2023-24 NFL season in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.
