Renfrow Being Given Opportunity to Make An Impact

The Raiders were unable to find a role for wide receiver Hunter Renfrow in the previous coaching staff's offense. That isn't the case under Bo Hardegree.

For the first eight weeks of the season, veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow was nearly nonexistent in former Coach Josh McDaniels' offensive scheme.

For those eight weeks, though, McDaniels was responsible for one of the worst offenses in the National Football League.

Under Interim Coach Antonio Pierce and Interim Offensive Coordinator Bo Hardegree, Renfrow has almost as many catches in his last four games as in the previous eight.

Not only is Renfrow receiving more opportunities, but he's also receiving better opportunities.

"Well, I think just the biggest thing is just obviously he's an impact player, very hard, very difficult to guard with the option routes and kind of like what we talked about with [Travis] Kelce," Pierce told the media Friday.

Renfrow's newfound opportunities allow him to impact the game, instead of those targets coming late with no chance to make a difference.

"He has the freedom to find that open space and does a really good job of it, and is very sneaky as far as his movement," Pierce said.

"Again, I keep calling him crazy legs because if you watch him, you don't know where -- I'm trying to figure out what he's about to do. But it's good to see because he's a really good football player."

Pierce spoke about Renfrow's ability to help the Raiders' offense.

"A couple of years ago, a Pro Bowler, setting records with the Raiders, and as we continue to grow and go through this process, [Josh] Jacobs, Davante [Adams] Jakobi [Meyers] -- I mean, you're talking about four elite players there," Pierce said.

"When you get the ball in their hands, something good is going to happen, and we saw that last week on the 30-yard explosive play for us. So, the more we can get him going, the better for our offense, especially better for [quarterback] Aidan [O'Connell]."

The Raiders have one of the most expensive and talented offensive rosters in the NFL. The Silver and Black continuing to find a way to get Renfrow involved will only help their offense improve.

The Silver and Black will return home this week to celebrate Thanksgiving and take on their AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday, November 26, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST.
