When the Las Vegas Raiders signed wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, he was coming off of three consecutive seasons as the New England Patriots' leading receiver.

For Meyers, joining the Raiders allowed him to join an offense with enough weapons to help him succeed even more.

Through his first four games as a Raider, Meyers has shown his value in his presence and absence. When Meyers missed the second game of the season while in concussion protocol, the Raiders had their lowest passing total.

While it could be argued that it's because of the Buffalo Bills' defense, there is no doubt not having their second-best receiver on the field made things more challenging for the Raiders.

"Yeah, he's just consistent and dependable," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said. "We have a lot of confidence in him, a lot of confidence in whatever the situation is, third down, early downs, red zone. He's a very dependable catcher of the ball. He's got great hands."

Meyers has 25 receptions for 274 yards and three touchdowns this season. He is averaging 11 yards per catch and almost 70 yards a game. He's also been responsible for 14 first downs for the Raiders this season

"He's really learned how to become a complete player at that position," McDaniels said. "Earlier in his career, he was a little bit more of an inside player. "Now, I think he understands who he is and what he has to do when he's outside versus when he's inside.

"He thinks all the way through the game. If somebody's seen a route one time, maybe he will change it up and do something a little different. But he's just a productive player in every role, and he does a lot of tough physical things in the running game."

Meyers has proven his value in more ways than only catching the football.

"He goes in there and blocks the force and the down safety, so he's involved in that aspect. also," McDaniels said. "He's a very unselfish guy, a great teammate, is ready to go, knows every position on the field, plays a lot of roles for us. He's really valuable guy."

The Raiders were smart to bring in a receiver of Meyers' caliber to take some of the attention off of Davante Adams. So far, he's shown to be an invaluable asset to the team.

The Silver and Black will stay home at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
