Could Jalen Ramsey Get His Old Wish to Be a Raider?

The Las Vegas Raiders can deal for Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who wanted to be traded to the Silver and Black in 2019.

It sounds as though star cornerback Jalen Ramsey's time with the Los Angeles Rams is nearing an end.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported Friday that Los Angeles has had trade talks centered around the six-time Pro Bowler and that league sources expect he will "very likely" be traded in a matter of weeks.

This opens up a whole new opportunity that the Las Vegas Raiders should consider, seeing that the team's secondary had one of the league's worst 2022 campaigns.

A little tidbit that should come as a promising sign for Raider Nation is that Ramsey wanted to be traded to the Silver and Black in 2019 before he was dealt to the Rams by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

We even reported the story in September.

Ramsey had stated on the "Behind the Cut" podcast that he asked Jacksonville to trade him to the then Oakland Raiders. According to Ramsey, the Rams gave the Jaguars the offer they had been looking for.

Ramsey registered a career-high 88 combined tackles this past season while adding 18 passes defensed, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

The 2021-22 Super Bowl champion has played three-plus seasons with the Rams, which followed his three-plus seasons in Jacksonville.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players is March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
