Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Jerry Tillery is a player any team would want in its locker room.

Tillery, who is in his second season with the Raiders, has been key to the team's defensive line room.

A versatile tackle who can play all across the defensive line when needed, like Tillery, is critical for the Raiders to be successful defensively.

"JT's an unselfish guy," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said in his press conference on Friday. "He plays a lot of roles, wears a lot of hats, does a lot of dirty work. Sometimes it doesn't get noticed. He's been very durable for us -- out there all the time. Guys like that, you don't have 10 of them. So, it's really beneficial if you have one or two guys who can kind of provide depth on the roster on game day in multiple cases, multiple spots in case you run into some injuries. So, he's a valuable part of our team."

Las Vegas claimed Tillery on waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers in November 2022. He would then play in eight Raiders games last season, making four starts. He finished his first season as a Raider with 10 combined tackles.

So far this season, Tillery has made five combined tackles and a sack.

As of Sept. 19, he is on the depth chart as a starter for Week 3.

Tillery was a first-round pick from the University of Notre Dame in 2019. He was drafted by the Chargers, with whom he would play three-plus seasons, totaling 98 combined tackles, 12 for losses, 10.5 sacks, two passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Tillery was waived by the Chargers just days before the Raiders added him last season.

The soon-to-be 27-year-old defensive tackle played all four seasons at Notre Dame. He played a total of 46 games with the Fighting Irish, finishing his college career with 134 combined tackles, 24 for losses, and 13.5 sacks.

The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8:20 p.m. EDT/5:20 p.m. PDT.
