Raiders Now Have Samples of All Three Quarterbacks

The Las Vegas Raiders can benefit from the fact they have seen all three of their quarterbacks lead the offense in a regular season game this season.

The Las Vegas Raiders haven't had much luck with the health of veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo, who missed Week 4 because of a concussion, did not play in the second half of the Raiders' game against the New England Patriots on Sunday due to a back injury.

It was longtime NFL quarterback Brian Hoyer who stepped in for the injured Garoppolo, and he would help lead the Silver and Black to their third victory of the season.

With Hoyer's performance and rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell getting the start in Week 4, the Raiders have a strong understanding of the kind of production they can get from all three quarterbacks, which could be quite beneficial down the road.

"In any situation, at any position, I think it would be helpful if you not only saw them in the preseason, but you've actually seen them in live action in a game, and in a close game," Coach Josh McDaniels said when he addressed the media after the Raiders' 21-17 victory over New England. "So, Brian today and obviously, Aidan in L.A. So, that's helpful.

"Certainly, I'm hoping for a healthy quarterback room in general. And I thought Jimmy was doing some good things, obviously, before he got twisted or hit there toward the end of the second quarter. So, we'll just patiently see kind of what this is going to be, and then, we'll make the best decision we can."

For now, the Raiders are not certain what the timetable is for Garoppolo, or who will start at quarterback next Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

"[I] think there's a lot of balls up in the air right now, relative to Jimmy and that whole situation," McDaniels said. "And we'll just see -- we'll have a little patience here for ourselves and just kind of see what the report is going to be. And I'm hoping for the best, obviously, like we all are.

"So, I don't know exactly where it's at, and we'll find out more and then obviously, try to make the best decision we can for the team."

The Silver and Black will head on the road to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
