Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was finally able to suit up for an NFL game on Saturday when the Silver and Black defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 34-17, in Week 2 of the preseason.

Garoppolo had not seen NFL action since Week 13 of last season when he broke his foot against the Miami Dolphins.

On Saturday, the veteran quarterback took the field in his first game as a Raider and would lead an opening-drive touchdown effort.

"It felt good just to knock some of the rust off, getting the game flow with some of the guys," Garoppolo told reporters after the game. "It's little things like that right now that we're trying to work on, and I thought the guys played well tonight."

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels and the organization decided to put many of the starters out on the field together for the opening drives of the game.

"I wanted to play," Garoppolo said. "I'm so glad Josh let the starters get out there and get a couple reps in. I thought the line played great, I thought guys were just operating on fast pace, which is important in this offense. And I thought it was, overall, pretty good."

Garoppolo has been too familiar with injuries throughout his NFL career. It's moments like Saturday that re-generate his love for the game.

"One thing I've learned from injuries, whenever this game gets taken away from you, it kinda resets your mind on how much you really do appreciate it," Garoppolo said. "So, that's something just -- it's kind of a blessing in disguise I keep telling myself. It makes you fall in love with the game all over again."

This season will be the third time in his career Garoppolo has suited up for a new team.

The 10-year NFL quarterback won two Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots and went to the title game once while with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.
