After having his fifth-year team option declined in the offseason of 2022, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs responded by having the best statistical season of his young career.

All Jacobs did was lead the NFL in rushing yards, set a career-high for himself in rushing yards per game with 97.2, and tie a career-high in rushing touchdowns with 12. He was named First-Team All-Pro and made his second Pro Bowl.

The Raiders placed the franchise tag on Jacobs on March 6, and he has yet to sign it. He and the team are both hoping to reach a long-term deal, but as they begin OTAs on June 12, Jacobs will not attend, as he is not allowed to practice until he is signed.

However, just because Jacobs is not participating in OTAs does not mean he is not keeping himself in football shape. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero posted a video on Twitter Friday afternoon of Jacobs squatting an impressive 550 pounds. He squatted the bar twice before setting it down.

Throughout his career, Jacobs has been one of the strongest runners in the NFL. Last season, he forced 31 missed tackles, second in the league behind Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans, according to FantasyPros.com. In 2021, he was seventh in the league in broken tackles with 20.

Jacobs understands the importance of keeping himself in shape while away from the team. While he could still sign his franchise tag, he is looking for a long-term deal from a Tweet he sent on recently.

Jacobs and the Raiders have until July 17th to work out a long-term deal. With his absence from OTAs, second-year backs Zamir White and Brittain Brown are seeing an increased workload, as well as veterans Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.

While Josh Jacobs has not been with the Raiders since the franchise tag was placed on him, he continues to stay in shape with his impressive squatting, and once he is ready to return, he should have no problem picking up where he left off in a career season.

OTA Offseason workouts: June 12-15
