Josh Jacobs is the Raiders' Most Important Player
Josh Jacobs has proven to be one of the best running backs in the National Football League. Last season was one of the best seasons he has had in his career with the Silver and Black.
The Raiders decided to use the team's only franchise tag this offseason. The Raiders hoped to reach a long-term deal with Josh Jacobs, but that did not happen, as he will play under the Franchise Tag this upcoming season.
Jacobs finished the 2022-23 NFL season as the league's rushing leader. He rushed for 1,653 rushing yards, along with 12 touchdowns.
In a recent Pro Football Focus article, the website listed every AFC team's most crucial non-quarterback. Pro Football Focus has Jacobs as the most important non-quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jacobs was the most dominant player for the Raiders offense last season. He finished with a PFF rushing grade of 91.1. He also led the league in having 90 forced missed tackles. He also averaged 4.9 yards per carry, which put him in a top 10 ranking with other running backs with at least 150 carries.
Raider Nation might ask if Jacobs can have another career season this year. The veteran is entering his fifth season with the Silver and Black. In his four-year career, he has 1,072 rushing attempts for 4,740 yards. He also has a career total of 40 touchdowns.
It will be very interesting to watch how Jacobs plays under his franchise tag and Coach Josh McDaniels' second-season offensive scheme.
Here is the full breakdown of Pro Football Focus's most important non-quarterback player in the American Football Conference.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
