Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs gave a statement on Thursday that should have every member of Raider Nation grinning from ear to ear.

The NFL's 2022-23 leading rusher comes off the best season of his young career, just in time for his first non-rookie contract.

Whether that contract will be with the Raiders or another organization is to be determined, as Jacobs and the entire league know his worth.

In an ideal scenario, though, the All-Pro running back would like to stay put.

"If it's up to me, man, I would want to be a Raider for life," Jacobs said when he joined "The Jim Rome Show" on Thursday. "Just because I'm one of those guys where I came into something, and they took a chance on me. And I remember the greatness that the Raiders used to be, and I want to be a part of getting them back to that."

Despite everything Jacobs did for the franchise this past season alone, he still feels he has unfinished business to take care of.

"[A]t the end of the day, I'll look at the record books and things like that," Jacobs said. "I hold almost every record for a running back. Like I left my mark on this team, but I haven't won enough. And that's the thing that I feel like I couldn't leave this organization without doing that for them."

Jacobs honestly said he doesn't know if the Raiders will offer him what he believes he deserves.

"But I will say this: if we get the right pieces -- obviously we've got a quarterback situation right now, we've got some guys who we need on defense and some guys up front, things like that -- if we get in the right situation, I wouldn't mind coming back for less or anything like that. But it just got to make sense."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
