As We Reported, McDaniels Had No Fallout With Renfrow
It's no secret the Las Vegas Raiders have not been utilizing wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to the extent they should be.
Only two years after being a Pro Bowler and the Raiders' leading receiver, Renfrow has eight receptions through seven games this season.
While Renfrow was limited much of last season by injuries, there is no good excuse as to why the Raiders are not getting him the ball and allowing him to be the impactful player he is.
When such a situation happens, it's easy to speculate the relationship between coach and player. When Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels addressed the media Saturday, he put such doubts to bed.
"First of all, I've never heard that, but that's certainly not the case," McDaniels said. "And I think Hunter's a great guy. I think Hunter's had a really productive career so far, and again, I think part of this is I need to focus on the things I can do to help that continue to improve.
"And we have other players, too. You know what I mean? And those guys come along and do some things, too, and that's the nature of when you have skill players that -- they all want the ball.
"And they all can do things to get the ball. And sometimes decisions, whether it's personnel groupings, or scheme or what have you, that can affect that, obviously. So, the bottom line is that Hunter's still a really good football player and needs to be a part of our plan to help us win, and I need to do everything I can do to help ourselves do that."
Renfrow is in his fifth season with the Silver and Black. He was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He has registered 2,702 yards on 252 receptions in his career.
The Silver and Black will stay on the road to take on the Detroit Lions on Monday night, Oct. 30, at 8:15 p.m. EDT/5:15 p.m. PDT.
