Josh McDaniels First Ever Joint Practices With Rams

This is Coach Josh McDaniels' first time having joint practices with Los Angeles Rams as the Raiders head coach

With an impressive week in having joint practices with the San Francisco 49ers leading up to the Raiders' first preseason game with the San Francisco 49ers, a 34-7 victory, the Raiders were scheduled to have more joint practices before kicking off for the second preseason game.

This time, the Raiders traveled to Southern California and joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams from the NFC West division.

These teams have familiarity with each other from when they played on prime time Thursday Night Football in Week 13 of last NFL season. The Raiders lost this game, 17-16, to the Rams in Sofi Stadium.

This will be the first time Coach Josh McDaniels will have joint practices with the Rams as he enters his second season as the Silver and Black head coach, practicing alongside seven-year Coach Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams.

McDaniels shared the Raiders' approach as they have joint practices and a preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams.

"I think our team has been consistent in terms of their approach," McDaniels said Monday via Zoom interview. "Now, we're trying to fine-tune some of the details, depending on the phase we're talking about in our game so we can improve. There are a lot of things we saw last night and this morning on the film that we know we can do better, and we're going to need to do better as we go forward.

The teams last had joint practices in 2021, also in Southern California. Those joint practices also led to the Raiders winning, 17-16, over the Rams in Week One of the 2021 preseason.

After having such a great week of joint practices with the 49ers, and the Raiders being the better team during those practices, the Raiders plan to become even better going against a very talented NFL team in the Rams, who have players like veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and veteran defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

The Raiders are set to have joint practices with the Rams on Wednesday, Aug. 16, before having their second preseason game against the Rams in Sofi Stadium.

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT.
